Morning Encouragement for 7/31/2024

Good morning,

There is a song that was written by Paul Simon and sung by Simon and Garfunkel that I used to closely identify with and it is called “I Am a Rock”. Like the lyrics, the metaphor spoke about my life and the ways that people hurt me, misused my trust, and made me the butt of their jokes and callous comments. After awhile, I couldn’t cry anymore and quite simply could not feel pain. The problem with being a rock or an island is that the Devil uses it to our disadvantage while at the same time justifying our actions; basically, he tortures us by telling us, “No one could possibly be going through the same thing you are” and we believe it. Elijah, a Prophet of the Lord in the time of Ahab King of Israel and his Queen Jezebel, felt like he was single handedly fighting the battle against Baal worship although Obadiah had refuted the claim. One word from Jezebel sent Elijah fleeing for his life. When the Lord tried to help him see the light, Elijah stuck to his claim and because of it lost out on the victory that would have been his (1 King 18-19).

Understand this, when the Devil hunts for his prey, he does what all predators do, “he isolates the weak and the stragglers (1 Peter 5:6-11). The reason the Devil wants us to feel alone is that we are no threat to his dominion. I encourage you today to draw near to God and He will draw near to you, take His hand and never let it go (James 4:8). Believe me, there is absolutely nothing that you can tell God that He has not heard before; in the words of my father Tony, “He is shock proof”. Jesus in his sermon on the mount said, “Ask and keep on asking. Knock and keep on knocking. Seek and you will find (Matthew 7:7-8). My brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus you are never alone no matter what you are going through even Hell itself. I am going to include support phone numbers and organizations that are standing by to help you.

Father,

You know all about us even the hidden areas of our life that no one else knows about and you love us despite them. Our nation is at war and many of our young men and women are facing hell in its worst form because of it they are coming home with wounds and scars that are deeper than the sea itself; for them, I pray and seek your face for their lives and that of their families. I plead the blood of Jesus over this nation. There are so many dry bones floating through life who have long sense given up hope; to them, I pray that you unite them, heal them, and breath fresh life into their spirit.
