Good morning,
The Word of God has many riddles in it and they are there to get the reader to consider them and seek deeper answers. There is one riddle that has eluded me for a long time although I have read it at least once a year for the past 15 years. Samson was engaged to a Philistine women that he had just met. On the way to the wedding feast, a lion jumped out of the forest at Samson to which he ripped the lion in half and threw it on the ground and that is when he noticed that there was honey coming from the abdomen. So he took some and ate it and gave a little to his parents not telling them where it came from. Based on the incident, Samson asked the attendants this riddle: “Out of the eater something to eat. Out of the strong something something sweet”. After thinking about it for a day or so the men talked it over but came up with nothing so they decided to elicit help from Samson’s wife by threats of violence towards her and her family. In turn his wife nagged him until he finally relented and she gave the answer to the men. Unfortunately the men got the right answer but did not get the solution; it was sort of like getting the right answer on a math test without showing your work and we receive an F..
When I consider everything Israel went through and the times when everything looked bad, from it came food eat and from the strong opposition came victory or something sweet (Judges 14:13-19). In every situation you find yourself today, I encourage you to consider this riddle and see how it applies to you. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, he defeated death, hell, and the grave that we may born again into the newness of life. Becoming a Christian through faith doesn’t make our problems and shortcomings go away, it brings them out so that they can be overcome. The Devil does not like it when we overcome because, he loses control of us then instead of being the defeater, he becomes the defeated and we overcome him by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony (Revelations 12:11-12).
Life is tough and the events in our world today only amplify the situation. My prayer today for my families and friends is that they may keep their eyes on you. Thank you for every person who visits this site may they find encouragement for their day.
