Good Morning,
Yesterday I talked about the enemy we cannot see because it is not flesh and blood but against the Devil and His minions. If there is anything we should know about the enemy of our soul it is that he is anything but conventional; he does not operate on a set of rules and wouldn’t adhere to them anyway; he answers to God alone and, above all, is to be treated with great respect (Jude 1:8-9, Zechariah 8:1-5). So for us to defeat the enemy and be free of his influence, we must develop a strong relationship with the Lord God. By choosing not to develop the relationship, we are giving the Devil free reign over our life. The reason Paul was bringing all of this up was because he knew where the church was heading spiritually and what would soon occur.
My encouragement for you today is that you would take a hard look at your life, the choices you have made, and the direction your life is heading in. There are in our churches and across the world who, although having accepted salvation in Jesus Christ, live defeated lives; when they want to become strong, the Devil pokes at them, and so they shrink back like Moses at the Burning Bush (Exodus 3:10-22). Know this, unconfessed sin and fear of being found out have done more to destroy the children of God than anything the Devil could possibly do to them; if this is you, then today is the day God has blessed and set aside for your freedom.
Father,
Sin is a blight but there are things in our hearts, as Jesus has witnessed, that destroy us from the inside out. One will never become strong in Jesus Christ and yet harbor sin and unforgiveness (Psalms 66:18-20). If I say, “No one knows about my sins”, we lie only to ourselves (1 John 1:5-8). Please lead me to the Rock that is Higher than me (Psalm 61:2-4). In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray.
