Good Morning,
Part of the child of God’s armor is the Breastplate of Righteousness. Like all of the other weapons, this too is not to make the individual look good; it has a functional use, which is to protect the heart in the same way a bulletproof jacket does. To properly maintain the breastplate, we need to look at our life to see where sin may have worn a hole or, “exposed a weakness”. In Old Testament law, it was the responsibility of the officers to ask the soldiers: is anyone recently married, recently built a house, recently planted a vineyard, is anyone afraid and lacks the courage to face the enemy? Saying “Yes” to any one of them or all of them would be grounds for dismissal from service because they would become a chink in their armor and lead to defeat (Deuteronomy 20:5-9).
My encouragement for you today is that you should ask the Lord to check your heart to see if there is any area in chink in your armor that would lead to your defeat (Psalm 139:23-24). If the Lord convicts your heart of sin, it is up to you to correct it through sincere repentance which means that we turn away or 180° turn away (John 16:8-9); where there is no repentance, the sin remains and will plague us until we do or we compromise ourselves (1 John 1:8-10).
Father,
I ask that you review my heart to see if there is any uncleanness in me and lead me to repentance. I know Lord all too well that sin is a blight and it is the blight that detracts from our lives. I know that the Devil says, “Don’t worry about your sins, God will forgive you” but it is the unforgiven sins that create an opening of sorts for him. May what I do be pleasing to you today
