Weapons of Our Warfare Part VII

Good Morning,

When I think about the Sword of the Spirit, it conjures up images of knights fighting on a battlefield fighting for their King’s honor with the clashing of swords and “To victors go the spoils of war”. I firmly believe, though, that it is more likely a surgeon’s scalpel because its divine purpose is to divide flesh and spirit, to discover the intents and purposes of the heart (Hebrews 4:12-13). We are given absolute control of what we put into our minds and that includes scriptural teachings. If we do not do our due diligence, we are setting ourselves up for failure which will create confusion in our minds by taking a page out of the church at Berea’s example (Acts 17:10-12). Examining the scriptures takes time and concerted effort but it takes even longer to undo faulty teachings. Never underestimate the enemy of our soul because he not only has a firm understanding of the Word of God but knows how to twist it for his amusement and our demise (Matthew 4:1-11).

My encouragement for you today is that you will establish a daily Bible reading program if you do not already do that; there are multiple reading plans and I will put mine up on the web page as well. When we know what the Word of God says and what it doesn’t, it will enable us to refute the lies we have allowed into our thinking. If we do not know the word of truth, the lie will seem like the truth, and the truth a lie as the example of the church in Galatia (Galatians 3:1-9).

Father,

Please help me to daily stay in your word that I may know the truth and the truth will set me free from needless fears and worries over false teachings (John 8:31-32). Holy Spirit you have been my teacher and counsel since I first asked for your help. Please help me each day to listen for your counsel and to seek the Word of God to be sure it is you speaking not the flesh. Although there are three parts to the Godhead, there is only one voice and You never violate your Word.

I.H.S. MK
