Life of the Patriarchs Part III – Abram

Good Morning,

The refrain, “Come out from Babylon and be ye separate” is one that is echoed throughout the OT and the NT. After the death of his father Terah, Abram and his family lived in Harran which is considered Babylonian land and is the place of the infamous tower of Bable, because of the sinful condition of Babylon, the Lord called Abram to leave with his family and go to the place He would show Abram. The new land would not be like the old one because it was the Lord’s. As a bonus for obedience, Abram’s family would become a great nation which was pretty good because there were only five of them. The 900 LB elephant in the room was the extended family unit that surrounded Abram plus Sarai might have had something to say about it.

My encouragement for you today is that whatever the Lord calls you will respond with, “Here I am send me” (Isaiah 6:8). Leaving our comfort zones is one of many things that mankind is not willing to do; yet to those who do respond, the Lord blesses although we may not see the result right away and maybe years in the making. The blessing on Abram is not just in his case but to all who walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). In the family unit, it is incredibly important to request confirmation so that the husband and wife are on the same sheet of music sort of like Gideon (Judges 6:36-40).

Father,

Walking by faith is not something mankind does well because it means closing our eyes to what see and opening our spiritual ears to hear Your voice. The writer of Hebrews said, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). Please forgive me for the times I have asked for a word of confirmation not because I doubt you but because I doubt the flesh which likes to hear what it wants to hear. I pray for those in my prayer circles Lord that you will watch over them today and always. Please help me to continue to bring a word of encouragement to people so that they will be uplifted. You have called me to this ministry and I pray that I will always please you.
