Main verse: Genesis 25:18-20
Good morning,
Rebecca had been barren since the day she married Isaac so, Isaac pleaded with the Lord for her. Not too long after that Rebecca became pregnant with twins. Because of the amount of fighting going on within her womb, Rebecca inquired of the Lord and that is when she received the prophecy (Genesis 25:19-20). It was from this moment that, I believe anyway, the problems started for Isaac’s family; don’t get me wrong, prophecy is a good thing (1 Corinthians 14:3-5) provided it is not used to one’s advantage (Genesis 27:11-29, John 11:50). When we bend or manipulate prophecy unintended consequences will occur such as the women Esau married to get even with his parents and the events that would unfold for Jacob in Padan Aram or Mesopotamia.
My encouragement for you today is that when a prophetic word is spoken over you, you will allow the Lord unfettered access to your life and allow Him to bring it to fruition. The Lord God has great plans for your life, don’t mess them up by adding your spin on it.
Father,
I pray that prophecy always be a part of the life of the church because its purpose is to keep us focused on your plan for our lives. When the prophecy appears to be coming true, like Jacob’s family, we may think the Lord was faithful not knowing how far off we are and what daggers we have allowed into our lives. I pray for the church today as she struggles against the forces of the enemy who is bent on retribution. Lord God may You arise, may Your enemies be scattered as the church prepares for war and the US prepares for war (Psalm 68:1-3). I pray especially for those in need of a fresh touch from you. I pray for those who need a pathway cleared so that they may be provided for.
