Main Verse: Genesis 28:10-18
Good morning,
Jacob was on the run from his brother Esau who was bent on retribution for the trick Jacob had pulled on him. The first night Jacob stopped in the little town of Luz or “Almond Tree” maybe cause there were abundant amounts of Almond Trees. In a dream that night, Jacob saw a ladder that connected Heaven and Earth. The Lord made a covenant with Jacob for the following:
- His descendants would be like the dust of the earth – to be unable to count them.
- He would be brought back to the land.
- The Lord would be a constant guard over him until the Lord had accomplished His purpose.
The next morning he awoke and realized that the place he slept that night was none other than “EL Beth EL”. Using the rock he slept on, Jacob built a small altar and burned oil on it. Then Jacob prayed for the provisions for his journey and if the Lord honored His commitment to bringing Jacob back to this place and to see his father again, then El would be Jacob’s EL for life.
My encouragement for you today is that the journey you are on today, however big or small, you would invite the Lord to be with you. Some of your journies, like Jacob’s, are froth with problems because you are running from something that you did; if this is you, I encourage you to make things right before you start on your journey (Matthew 5:23-24).
Father,
Above all things, all kingdoms, and all peoples You are God! You are a Covenantal God who promises what He will fulfill provided we too are faithful. Unfortunately, we are one other thing and that is, “human” and are subject to our fears which take us to places we would rather not be. Please help me today to honor you through obedience and not allow fear to keep me from making right what I have broken, and healing lives through the blood of Jesus Christ.
