Encouragement for 9-10-2024

Good Morning

Last night I had multiple dreams and all of them shared a simple thread and that is, we may have no control over the circumstances that we are facing but we will always be in control of how we deal with them. Every day we are dealt a hand of cards and that is the “luck of the draw”. The difference between winning and losing comes down to how we play our cards. There is a Hebrew word that applies here and that is, “Timshel” or “Though mayest” which was used when the Lord confronted Cain (Genesis 4:1-8). We are not told why Cain’s offering was frowned upon maybe because the plants didn’t receive rain or that the seeds were poor; the thing is, he gave a paltry offering. The Lord’s desire for us is that we will always be at the top, not the bottom but, that’s life in a “Perfect World”; we are not in a perfect world, we are in a world rattled by sin and destruction; is this a reason to give up and let our world go to the wolves? No! There is a quote from the movie “Apollo 13” that I like and believe is applicable “With all due respect sir, I believe this is our finest hour” (Gene Crantz).

I encourage you today to make good use of the cards you are dealt. When you get to the end of the day and your head hits the pillow you can say without and you can say, “I have fought the good fight …” (2 Timothy 4:7-8). “When you see broken beyond repair I see healing beyond belief. When you see too far gone, I see one step from home” (Matthew West).

Father,

Life is tough and it has many tentacles that get into our lives leaving us cards that we’d rather not have. In the game of life, unlike a game of cards, we are not allowed to give away some bad cards so, we have to play them in the best way possible. Many people the world over are dealing with marital issues, and children who have life-long illnesses requiring treatment and costly medication(s). For this reason, we are given each other to uplift one another and to keep them before the throne until your answer comes down (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).  I pray for those in need of a special touch from you today.

I.H.S. MK
