Morning Encouragement for 9-17

Good morning!

For the past few weeks or so I have been writing on “Life of the Patriarchs” and have much more to go. From what I have written, it sounds like I’m mocking the patriarchs for their poor choices, but nothing could be further from the truth.  You see, these people were human beings born in difficult times, faced challenges, and made choices some of which were poor and others were wise; in essence, they were human beings, not gods and goddesses as the ancient world made them out to be. The whole reason I believe the writers of scripture talk about these people at all is to show us that they were just as broken, hurting, and in need of savior as we are. My dad used to say, “Son we’ve all got a sack of rocks to carry” (Tony Krier) those “rocks” are the result of our choices, and we can either let them wear us out or we can rise above them; either way, life moves on with or without us.

My dear siblings in Jesus Christ I do not know what hell you are facing today, nor do I know the scars you bear; but I do know this, no matter what is going on, you will get through and will have grown spiritually because of it. We are entering a very dark and depressing time in American History; we will get through it and maybe a little wiser because of it.  I encourage you by the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that the same God who called us will be the same one who completes us so do not lose hope!

Father,

Thank you to the people that have gone before us. Our ancestors were not superhuman beings, they were as human as we are; they got through WW I and II through prayer and steadfast devotion to you. We too will get through the storms of our time because you are the same God with the same abilities, the same characteristics, and the same plan for our lives. I pray for wisdom and strength to face the storms ahead. I pray for my siblings in Jesus Christ that you will watch over them and keep them through the trials. I know that all things work for the good of those who walk in obedience to your precepts and never give up (Romans 8:28, Isaiah 1:18-20, Luke 18:1-8).
