Life of the Patriarchs Part XIX Keep Treachery in Mind

Main Verse: Exodus 5

Good morning,

The Lord had assigned the task of getting the Israelites out of Egypt. The problem Moses had was going back to the place where he killed an Egyptian taskmaster in the name of “Justice”. The voices of “fear” were so loud in Moses’ ears that he did not hear everything the Lord said or, “The full counsel of the Lord”. Because he didn’t listen and keep in mind statements like, “But I will harden his heart and not let them go” (Exodus 4:19, 21). So Moses lit out with Aaron and Moses’ wife and children. When the troop got to Egypt, Moses spoke to the elders and let them know what the Lord had to say and they were elated. The part Moses didn’t know about, but what we should always keep in mind, is that any time we are sent by the Lord God to accomplish a task, the enemy of our soul will be right there to upend our plans; consider how Pharaoh was always one step ahead of Moses and knew what strings to pull to create a conflict like making the slaves find the straw to make bricks and their quota of bricks was not reduced ( Exodus 5:1-8). The reason the Devil does things like the Pharaoh’s decision is to get us to question God’s call on our lives and he does it with a great perverse sense of pleasure; You see, if he can rain on our parade, he will and you can count on it; Moses and the elders didn’t it cost them dearly.

My encouragement for you today is that in whatever capacity God is calling you, always prepare yourself for the Devil’s tricks. In doing so, you will not lose your joy and you will never be caught unaware and unprepared (Luke 21:34-37).

Father,

The Devil knows that on the day that we stand upon your promises and complete the tasks that are assigned to us, he will have no hold on us and his tricks will fall on deaf ears (John 10:10). Nothing escapes your attention nor are you caught unaware. It is recorded in scripture that you will always have the final word (Proverbs 16:1-3). We are encouraged to always trust you despite what the enemy pulls (Proverbs 3:4-5) so please remind me of these words in the times of my trials. Lord, I pray for those who need a special touch from you.

In Jesus’ Name

Amen
