Life of the Patriarchs Part XXII Faith’s Unending Storyo

Main Verse: Hebrews 11

Good morning!

All stories begin somewhere and with someone. The story of God’s calling began with Abram. Faith’s story begins with our acknowledgment that God created the heavens and earth. When people like Able, Enoch, Noah, and Abram acted in faith not knowing where they were going, faith took root and grew in their lives. In the same way, when you and I came to the Lord, our story of faith began. Why is it so important to know our “Story of Faith”? Because it keeps us grounded in humility. You see people like the patriarchs were human beings that acted on God’s calling on their lives and, as such, committed foolish acts not knowing the price they would pay. Faith says to our mistakes in judgment, “Though he slays me yet will I praise Him” (Job 3:15).

The Lord God has great plans for our lives and if we will just commit our life to Him, He will do what He has promised. He doesn’t expect “perfection”, he expects faithfulness in the face of failure. My encouragement for you today is that you will see the Lord’s plan for your life and that you will make the first step by accepting Him into your life.

Father,

Faith is believing that You are the same God who called men and women of old to be part of Faith’s unending story. Everybody who comes to you, you accept into your family lineage (John 1:12-13). Sin does not keep us from you, guilt does just as it did to David your servant. When I trip over sin, please lead me to the Rock that is Higher than I that Faith’s unending story resound throughout my lifetime that my decedents will have a place to begin with (Psalm 61:2).

In Jesus’ Name

Amen
