Main Verse: Numbers 27:15-23, Deuteronomy 31:23-30
Good morning!
Because Moses would not be going into the land which, was a bitter disappointment to him (Deuteronomy 1:37, 3:26, 4:21), a new leader was chosen to take the helm. Because the trek into the land would not be as easy as “Handing over the keys” and the days ahead would be very challenging, the new leader would have to meet rigid qualifications. First, he must be chosen by the Lord (Numbers 27:18-21), submissive to authority (he must be courageous (Exodus 17:8-15), and he must be prepared (Exodus 33:11). Joshua met these qualifications and as such would be installed as the next leader.
So Joshua was an effective leader, so what? The “So what?” in this deal is that when God calls us to do anything, he provides for us, equips us, and gives us tasks to prepare us for the mission; if we are willing and obedient, He will do all that He has promised us (Isaiah 1:18-19). My encouragement for you today is that you will consider the above words that I have highlighted as you too take on the mission God has assigned to you. Remember this, nothing in the days to come will be easy, and only through obedience and faithfulness will we get through them (2 Timothy 3:1-13).
Father
A new day is coming and our old ways, thoughts, and beliefs will not win the day. The world is looking for “The Difference” not more of the same. For this reason, you are speaking to your people like you have not done for a long time. Please help us to listen to your voice and do what you have asked of us. Thank you to those who have gone before us. I pray especially for our nation today Lord as she is being pulled in many directions and most of them are not good. I need you in my life Lord and I humbly ask for your help. May the words of my hands and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you Lord.
In Jesus’ name.
