Main Verse: Judges 1
Good morning!
When Israel came out of Egypt, it held great promise and a bright future. At Horeb, Moses was given instructions from the Lord to pass down to the people; the essence was the people were to dispossess the land’s inhabitants completely or those people would become thorns in Israel’s side (Numbers 33:50-56). As we can see in the opening chapter of Judges, the people weren’t able to drive out some of the people because the people intended to hold onto the land like the Jebusites and the Hittites (Bathsheba’s Tribe). It is important to note that not all of Israel’s enemies came from the tribes they could not dispossess, some came from earnest decisions like the Gibeonites (Joshua 9), Hittites, Kenites (Numbers 10:29-32), and Edom.
The thing about “Problems” is that they seldom manifest themselves immediately after making a decision; usually, they manifest when we can least afford them. In the book of Proverbs, the writer speaks about our undying need for “Wisdom” and that we should seek it before making a decision or committing to a course of action (Proverbs 3:4-5). Making a decision is not always easy especially when there contributing factors like your spouse, children, coworkers, etc; some decisions require us to toss the ummim and thummim (Exodus 28:30) because we just have no idea which way to go. My encouragement for you today is that you will prayerfully consider the decisions facing your lives; you will not always make the best decisions nor always the worst ones.
