Main Verse: Judges: 6:21-32
Good morning,
Gideon was called to do a very difficult and dangerous – Free Israel from the dreaded Midianites; he was never trained to command a regiment so the task was overwhelming. The Angel told Gideon, “Go in the strength you have and destroy the altar to Baal, cut down the Asherah pole, and build an altar to God on this mountain stronghold”. So Gideon destroyed the two items and built the altar. In the morning the people awoke to find their glorious altar to Baal and the Asherapole broken down. When it was found out that Gideon did it, they expected his father (Joash) to hand Gideon over to be executed. Joash asked the people, “Will contend for Baal? Let him come and fight for it if he is a god.
There are people, and maybe you are one of them, who have been put in a very difficult situation, “Fear God or fear man”. When we are not in the midst of trouble, it is easy to say, “Count me in” (Matthew 26:31-35). Yet when the tables turn and troubles become real, we will find out how strong we are. Gideon wasn’t a trained soldier but “Faith” made up for the gap. In the same way, my dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, I encourage you today to understand that in whatever you are called to do, the Lord will provide for your needs even if it means breaking down the altars built to honor the enemy of our soul.
In Jesus’ name.
Father.,
Being brave is easy when life is at its best and courage comes easy when we aren’t facing down the enemy. When life changes and the battle begins, is when we will know the depths of our hearts. Lord, you provide for all of our needs so I humbly ask for your help today to accomplish what you ask from me. May I honor you in all of the seasons of my life? I pray for those who are struggling with life issues and require encouragement.
In Jesus’ Name
