Main Verse: Judges 7:19 – 8:27
Good morning,
Gideon, on orders from the Lord, divided his army into three battalions each having 100 men each was armed with a jar, a sword, and a trumpet. During the night watch the three battalions surrounded the enemy’s camp. On Gideon’s signal, the men broke the glass jar that was in their hands, blew the trumpets, and yelled, “A Sword for the Lord and Gideon”. What happened next was sheer pandemonium because the men were killing each other; those who remained alive ran for their lives and the two kings were in the lead. After the enemy started running away, the remaining men in Israel’s army ran after them to finish the battle. The men of Ephraim caught and put to death the two Midianite kings: Oreb and Zalmunnah.
5 Lessons From Gideon
- God always uses small numbers of people to accomplish His purposes on earth (1 Samuel 14:1-15 as an example).
- The Lord’s plans are always “rough” and need to be worked out which is the responsibility of the person chosen by the Lord.
- To God be the victory but obedience is the key to the victory (Deuteronomy 28:1-3).
- People will always be afraid of the “Unknown” but when you are successful people will get on the “Band Wagon”.
- Above all things, use “Tact” (Proverbs 13:3).
Gideon walked in the shout of the Lord and it was evidenced by the way he took responsibility for the Lord’s directions, was obedient to the Lord, and never became proud. Being the Lord’s chosen emissary may seem easy because “The Lord watches over them”. The thing is, the chosen emissary’s job is no easier than any other leader the difference is that the chosen man or woman has access to a wise council, the strength to see the mission through is from the Lord, and, the Lord will always provide what is needed for the task as an example, Moses’ task to build the Wilderness Temple and the required items (Exodus 25:1-9); Paul, in his instruction to the Phillipian church, referred to this as “Working out your salvation …” (Philippians 2:12-13). My encouragement to you today is that in whatever place God has placed you or called you to do, meditate on the lessons from Gideon to see how it applies to your life

Father,
Leadership is never easy because it entails working with people. One of the easiest things to do is, jump in and think you have to do it alone. I know that people will always flock to what is successful or where people’s needs are always met but they also leave when life becomes difficult. Please help me today to honor you in all that I do. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you. I pray for my family, my city, my state, and the Republic of the US.
In Jesus’ Name
MK
