Main Verse: 1 Samuel 2:12-36
Good morning!
Eli the High Priest had two sons who were the talk of the town because of their foolish and greedy behavior. According to Mosaic law, one of the two sons would be tapped as the next High Priest after Eli died (Exodus 29:30-31) knowing this must have created a crisis for the people. The thing is, the Levites belonged to God and He could make the impossible possible considering the case of the rich man who wanted to follow Jesus (Matthew 19:16-30). When Eli adopted Samuel for all practical purposes, that “impossible situation” was resolved, and a way forward was found.
In the first century, anybody who wanted to be a priest had to give a large sum of money to the Romans. Rome selected the High Priest (High Priest). When Jesus was born in a dirty manger that was used to feed the animals, the nation was looking for the Messiah. The reason his birth wasn’t public knowledge is because “who would look in a dirty manger for a King?”. When Jesus started his public ministry, the Sanhedrin didn’t take it seriously until he healed a man then they became afraid. When Jesus called Lazarus from his deathbed, the members of the Sanhedrin were terrified because if the Roman leadership accepted Jesus as their Messiah, they knew their goose would be cooked so Jesus had to be killed in whatever way possible. When Jesus died on the cross, the Sanhedrin thought they had won the battle and that their troubles would be over; however, Jesus’ death wasn’t the end of the story, it was the end of a chapter and would happen afterward would be a new chapter (Acts 2). My encouragement for you today is that you will commit your “impossible situation” to the Lord and seek the Lord’s answer for your life and ministry. Whatever you do, don’t allow the presence of people like Eli’s sons to hinder you from receiving all that belongs to you in Jesus Christ.

Father,
Eli’s sons were wicked and, if it weren’t for Hannah seeking a child, these men would have become the next leader of Israel. The people could have capitulated in despair and given up hope but, You are the God of Heaven and Earth!; because of this, You make the impossible possible. I pray over this impossible nation today in the time of Your favor and “New Beginnings” that you will heal and restore this nation however it may look. I know that nothing is too difficult or beyond your capabilities and so I pray for Revival over this nation and let it begin in the most difficult places and spread across this nation like an out-of-control fire.
In Jesus’ Name
