Main Verse: 1 Samuel 12:12-22
Good morning!
Yesterday I talked about the Walrus and the Carpenter and how the Walrus wanted to talk about unimportant things like ships, ceiling wax, and whether pigs have wings and avoided the important things like “faithfulness to the Lord”. Having a king does not imply, “The onus is on our King”. Each individual within the nation would have to choose which pathway he/she would go down and that included the king. The King was not the Savior of the nation, he was a hired leader and had to follow the Law of the Lord. If even one person sinned against the Lord, and that included the king, the entire nation would suffer (example Joshua 7). By asking Samuel to pray to the Lord on their behalf, they bound themselves in an oath to honor the Lord with their lives (Joshua 24:19-28).
Today in America we have no lack of people who want to lead the nation. What we lack is people who are convicted by the Holy Spirit to walk in the fear of the Lord. When we walk in step with the Holy Spirit the world and many within our family will not like it and will object because they will be convicted (John 16:5-11); that “Cross” is the conscious choice we made to serve the Lord. If we want “The peace that surpasses all understanding” and all of God’s promises concerning us, we must pick up that heavy nail-spiked cross and do what the Lord Jesus our king did; if our family and friends mean more to us than the Lord’s calling our lives (Luke 14:25-27). To “hate everyone else including ourselves” is a line in the sand that we will either cross or we won’t as the case of Moses and the wayward people bring out (Exodus 32:25-26). My encouragement for you today is that you will carefully choose the Lord you will follow and be faithful to him (James 1:8).

Father,
Thank you for the New Covenant in Jesus’ blood that washes away the sins of our lives and allows us the privilege of calling you, “Abba Father” (Romans 8:12-17). The US will soon have a new President and, although he has great desires for the nation he is not the Savior, he is a fallen man in need of a personal Savior just like me; Your Word admonishes us to pray for this man despite our political convictions just as we need to do for all of our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-4) so I pray for them that you will daily rattle their cages by convicting them of the choices they have made and will soon have to make. Lord, we need your Shalome over our nation today more than we ever have needed it. Sin has run its course in the USA and we are seeing before our eyes the reward of wickedness. Now we must choose the pathway we will follow and I chose to follow you (2 Timothy 3:1-9). Help me to be a light in a dark place Lord that I may share the Good News of Jesus Christ to a dying world.
In Jesus’ Name.
