Main Verses: Exodus 20:1-10, Deuteronomy 6
Good morning!
The Book of the law or, “Mitzvot” contained 613 laws (Glory) covering every known study from agronomy to zoology, universally applied, supersedes all other laws (Acts 5:27-32), and is perfect for restoring the soul (Psalms 19:7). The Mosaic law is a detailed guide or, “Standard Operating Procedures for Communal Living” and there were no “Gray Areas.” For over a millennium the Kohathite Priests sacrificed animals and birds to atone for the sins of the nation until Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection (Daniel 9:24-27 (Altein, n.d.)). Because the price of sin is death testified by the shedding of blood, the blood of animals was the glue that healed friction between individuals, families, and tribes (verse); the problem is, sin is continual (Romans 3:21-27); Unfortunately, the blood of the animals did not heal the divide between God and humanity because of Adam (Genesis 3:22-24, Romans 5:11-14).
Today in America and across the globe countries, nations, and people are at war with each other; unfortunately, no amount of blood shed in battle, land mass destroyed, and/or money spent will heal that divide (Psalms 49:7-8, ); the only cure is the blood Jesus shed on the cross of Calvary coupled with grace, mercy, and above all, forgiveness (Matthew 26:26- 29). “We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love” (Martin Luther King Jr). My encouragement for you today as this year ends is, “Find room in your heart to forgive those who have harmed you, stolen from you, and/or misused you and let the blood of Jesus Christ pay for the sins.”
