The Mountain of the Lord

Main Verse: Micah 4

Good morning!

The hill called, “Golgotha” or, “Place of the Skull” was a dirty, sorrowful, and cold place; Rome used this mountain to show the people what happens to trouble-makers who dared to defy Roman authority. Jesus was crucified on Golgotha because Jesus spoke of another Kingdom (John 18:37-38); the High Priest, chosen by Roman decree (Antiquities of the Jews Book VIII chapter 2 para 1), the priests were afraid Pilot would fire them because the Priests and the temple would not be necessary (John 11:47-54). The Sanhedrin passionately believed removing Jesus from the equation Jerusalem would return to normalcy and the unlearned people would forget all about “This clown Jesus”; unfortunately, instead of stopping Jesus’ ministry, Jesus’ crucifixion was liken to warm air to yeast, the ministry grew by leaps and bounds at the hands of the disciples (Matthew 26:31, Zechariah 13:7-9).

Our world today is shattered in a million pieces; violence, anger, and frustrations have served to separate families just as the first Civil war did in America in the 19th century. The world’s answer to the situation facing us is, “Compromise” by removing anything or anyone that does not agree with the people; compromising and cowing down to the enemy of our soul will do absolutely nothing but breed bitterness, anger, and hatred which leads to death. For this reason, the cross stands on a high mountain just as Wisdom stands higher than foolishness (Proverbs 8:1-4 compared to Proverbs 9:13-18). The blood that was shed on the cross does not make our world a perfect place to live in, it paves the way to freedom because the price for sin is paid in full (1 Peter 4:12-19). My prayer and encouragement for you today is, “Focus your eyes on the Builder and Maker of our faith and make no provision for the flesh (Romans 13:11-14)
