Main Verse: Exodus 20:1-10
Good morning
In the world today politicians and their supporters demand the truth from the other political party more to the point, the “truth they want to hear;” if the party hears anything other than their version of the truth, it is a lie. Equally, the world decides what is right or wrong from their vantage point; unfortunately, this leads to fights and misinformation (James 4:1-3). At the core of the talking points is the Liar himself whose greatest joy is to create fights among humans to keep the humans from seeking the truth of God’s word and from talking with each other with the intention of seeking to understand (John 8:43-46). The author of the, “Screwtape Letters” said of the Devil, “Not everything Screwtape says is considered “Truth” even from his angle” (Lewis, 1941). So why do we listen to the Liar? Because it is easy and does not require any work on our part. If we allow the Devil’s non-sense into our heart and mind, our mind and heart will lead us to places we do not want to go to (Mark, 2020).
We must understand, we have no control over what the world thinks or does, but we should have full control over our heart and mind (2 Corinthians 10:3-6). To understand the truth of God’s word, we must walk in covenant with the author of God’s word otherwise, the “Words” are simply words on a page subject to arguments. As children of the Living God, we are obligated to abide by the covenant otherwise, we will be swept away with populist beliefs and changing opinions (John 15:4-8). My encouragement for you today is to reconnect with the Lord and His covenant if we desire to live a peaceful and purposeful life.
