Good morning

            King David was truly a man after God’s heart (1 Samuel 13:14). Though David was anointed the future king of Israel, David did not act on it until the Lord opened the door. When David was brought into King Saul’s fold, David served Saul as he would serve the Lord even when Saul’s anger flared against him (Ephesians 6:5-8, Ecclesiastes 10:4). Every step David took toward his kingdom he did so in the fear of the Lord even when he had the opportunity to kill King Saul (1 Samuel 24:1-6). David wanted to build a temple in honor of the Lord, but the Lord had a better idea, instead of a physical temple which could be robbed and destroyed the Lord promised to build a spiritual temple in David’s heart which only David could dismantle (Matthew 6:19-21). This enduring promise spoke not only of David but of the nation, the kings to come after him, and the future Messiah Jesus Christ; the keys to the promise was and still are, faithfulness and obedience (Isaiah 1:18-20).

            When we accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts, we were adopted into Jesus’ family tree by the blood shed on Calvary (Ephesians 1:3-14, Romans 8:14-17). The promise, however, is meaningless unless we accept our cross and follow Jesus (Matthew 16:24-27). The keys to understanding the book of Revelations, just as it was in David’s time and the kings who followed, and our lives today, are and will always be, obedience and faithfulness (obedience). If we are unwilling to do minor things such as faithfulness and obedience, forget the major things such as a successful pulpit ministry or speaking before Kings and Queens (Proverbs 18:16). My encouragement for you today is, consider the Lord’s promise for your life and do not be the cause of it not coming to fruition in your life (John 10:27-30).
